Summary:
I was born and raised in America by an American mother and British father. I moved to Australia in 2014 with my partner. I have a Bachelor's Degree (Honours) in Political Science from the University of Connecticut, and a Master's Degree in Politics of South Asia from SOAS, University of London. I am a quarter Indian, hence studying South Asia. I love music - I was a singer/songwriter but I get too nervous to play in front of an audience. I want to travel the world. During the pandemic, I taught myself how to sew and fulfilled a dream to make my own clothes.
The long story:
Originally from the North East of the United States, I attended and completed my Bachelor's (Honours) in Political Science at the University of Connecticut and then moved to London where I completed my Master's in South Asian Area Studies majoring in Politics at SOAS, University of London. After my studies, I began working at SOAS Careers Service and volunteering with Amnesty International at the International Secretariat. I moved to Melbourne, Australia in September 2014 where I began volunteering with the International Women's Development Agency; Amnesty International Victoria; and Youth Support and Advocacy Services. In March 2015 I began working at UnitingCare ReGen where I worked (in several different roles) until April 2017. I was also the Convenor of the Women's Rights Defenders Network at Amnesty International Victoria (July 2016 - December 2017). I was one of the co-founders of the Amnesty International Australia (AIA) National Women's Rights Network.
I began working in the Victorian Government in May 2017 as a Policy Officer. In December 2017, I began a new position as a Senior Policy Adviser. In August 2020, I secured an ongoing role as a Senior Policy and Project Officer. I moved up into a Principal role in April 2021, then into a Manager role for several months from June 2021. In April 2022, I am moving back to the Department of Health to work in mental health and wellbeing workforce strategy.
Personally, I love to travel. I love music. I love food. I enjoy taking photos, exercising, and watching movies. I am a vegetarian. I love sewing. I enjoy listening to funny and interesting podcasts and walking, such as Fitbet, Quitters, Armchair Expert, So Dramatic, and Love to Sew.
